Established in 1983 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) is an autonomous, premier national resource institution in entrepreneurship education, research, and training. Sponsored by IDBI Bank Ltd, IFCI Ltd, ICICI Bank Ltd, State Bank of India (SBI), and the Government of Gujarat, EDII is recognized as a 'Centre of Excellence' by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and achieved the #1 Rank in ARIIA 2021 (General Non-Technical category by the Ministry of Education). EDII trains 80,000 to 100,000 entrepreneurs annually and leads national initiatives like the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP).

Prior to Odoo, EDII operated 3-4 fragmented software systems for purchase, payroll, and accounting. Preparing monthly payroll for faculty and staff required 3-4 days of manual effort, recruitment screening was tedious, and tracking ongoing research projects and grants lacked real-time MIS data.
